The District has gotten all of the permits and constructed a permanent, seasonal household hazardous waste (HHW) facility. It will be open all summer (June through September), for six hours a week. We are currently making appointments for District residents to dispose of their HHW on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9:00 a.m. until noon. We are charging $10/car for up to 10 gallons of waste (paint is free).
Appointments are required; call 802-674-9235 to make one and for directions to the new HHW Depot. Click here for a list of what we take and what we do not.
To dispose of HHW between October and June, “The Rutland County Solid Waste District has a permanent hazardous waste collection facility that is generally open year-round. Visit their website or call 802-775-7209 for more information”.
If you just have paint to recycle, and the cans are labeled and not leaking, you can bring them to your local participating retailer. Visit https://www.paintcare.org/paintcare-states/vermont/#/everyone for the closest location.
